
Angela Martina (DiMichele) Cuccovia, 91, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born in Macchiagodena, Italy on October 17, 1933, and came to America in 1951. She lived with her Uncle Rocco and Aunt Francesca in Springfield. Angela was the daughter of the late Benedetto and Maria (Giancola) DiMichele. She was married in Thorold, Canada then settled back in Springfield. She is predeceased by her husband of 59-years, Antonio Cuccovia.
She was a beloved mother, cherished friend, and devoted member of the Church and its community. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her with her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love.
Angela was known for her renowned cooking, baking, gardening, upholstering, and sewing abilities. She worked at several dress-making shops in Springfield before mastering her upholstery craft. Angela worked at Hampden Parlor Furniture and lastly at Slip Cover Center. She was also self-employed at home for many years while raising her family.
She dedicated her time to the Church and the Italian community. Angela was a member of the Ladies Guild of Mount Carmel, the former Stelle D’Italia Club, the Holy Cross Senior Citizen Group, and the Italian Cultural Center. She was always there to offer support, a listening ear, or a comforting word.
Angela is survived by her children, Nicola & wife Carmen, Michael & wife Gail, Maria Wilson & husband Robert, Gina Simoneau & husband Kevin, and Nino & wife Kerri. She was cherished by her grandchildren, Diane Toia & husband Brian, Monica Wiser & husband Jake, Anthony, Nina, Matteo, Alexander, Isabella, and Arianna, great-grandchildren, Nico & Ellie, brother, Antonio DiMichele & wife Antonietta, sisters-in-law, Marietta DiMichele & Adoloratta Colozza, brothers-in-law, Mario Cuccovia & Angelo Meccia, and other extended family members. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Felice DiMichele & Maria Meccia, and sister-in-law, Lucia DiSarro.
Angela’s funeral services and burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery were held privately.
