Gerald Paul "Jerry" McMahon, 84, died at his home on December 20, 2019. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Jerry was the beloved son of the late Thomas D. and Margaret (Ryan) McMahon and brother of the late Thomas John McMahon. His beloved wife Jeannette (Lague) predeceased him in 2010. He leaves a stepdaughter Judith Roberts of Lowell, sister-in-law Alcida McMahon of Hingham, nieces Sharon Sawyer of Augusta, ME, Alcida Litchfield of Pembroke, Michelle Sawan of Sherborn, and his nephew Thomas P. McMahon of Mahwah, NJ, their spouses and children. He also leaves his cousin Dorothy Krausnick of Syracuse, NY.
Jerry earned his B.A. and M.A. degrees from Fordham University. He was retired from the U.S. Naval Investigative Service. Jerry was a cherished member of his faith community at Bethesda Lutheran and East Congregational Churches in Springfield. He was laid to rest in the Pittsfield Cemetery on February 1 in a private service.
A service for friends and family, in celebration of Jerry's life, will be held at 2 pm on Friday, April 24, 2020 at the Bethesda Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jerry's memory to Doctors Without Borders.
