M. Judith “Judy” (Bailey) Dasso, 86, passed on April 24, 2024 at Keystone Commons in Ludlow. Born in Springfield on September 13, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Lydia (Manley) Bailey.
Judy grew up in Springfield and was a graduate of the High School of Commerce, she then received degrees from Westfield State Teachers College earning a Master’s in Education. She worked as a third-gradeteacher at South Elementary School for 35 years,ending her career in Windsor Locks, Connecticut; she was very proud to have received Teacher of the Year in 1994.
Married to the love of her life, Alfred Dasso for over 62 years, she now joins Al in eternal life, as he passed away in March of this year. Both Judy and Al were very active in the Parish life at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, they also volunteered at the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, as well as service through community groups: UNICO, the Italian Cultural Center and the former Mt. Carmel School where Judy began the reading program. She loved to bake and paint.
She leaves her brothers, Michael Bailey of Chicopee and Mark Bailey of Wilbraham, and sisters, Susan Rousseau of FL and Rosemary Broudeur of MA. Judy will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends. She was also predeceased by her brother,Edward Bailey and sisters, Ellen Gallacher, Mary Boyer, Theresa Canti and Dorothy Hayes.
Judy’s funeral liturgy will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 10 a.m., at Mt. Carmel Church, 123 William St. in Springfield. A calling hour will be held in the church from 9 to 10 a.m., entombment will follow in St.Michael the Archangel Mausoleum.
