Mary A. Vogliazzo


Mary Alberta (Sapelli) Vogliazzo, 100, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2024. Born September 6, 1923, in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late Joseph J. & Matilda (Avidano) Sapelli, Sr.


Mary spent 52 wonderful years with her husband, Sergio “Bill” Vogliazzo before his passing in 1996.


The consummate homemaker, Mary cherished her time caring for her children and those of others. Whether it was cooking a world class meal; in 1977 she received from Better Homes & Gardens, a Recipe Endorsement for her Italian Apple Pudding, or patching, hemming, or sewing their clothes, Mary was always content.


She enjoyed her time spent locally at the YMCA, as well as abroad on her travels, especially to Italy.


Mary is survived by her adoring daughter, Natalie Jurgen & husband Karl of Wilbraham, grandsons, Glenn Jurgen & wife Melissa of Wallingford, CT, and Paul Jurgen & wife Apiradee & their daughters Maryann & Ellie of Groton, MA, and daughter-in-law, Josephine Vogliazzo of Longmeadow, and many beloved nieces, nephews & extended family.


Along with her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Peter Vogliazzo, brother, Joseph J. Sapelli, Jr. & wife Toni, and sister, Eliza Castagna.


Mary’s wake is Sunday, April 7th from 1-3 p.m. at Tazzini Funeral Home, 22 Locust Street in Springfield. Her funeral will begin Monday, 9 a.m. at the Funeral Home proceeding to Mary’s 10 a.m. Liturgy of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Church. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
